Free event
As a celebration for the upcoming wedding between Andrew Jarvis and Trudi Edmondson, a gig has been organised at Fat Cats Bar in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent and you, dear friends, are invited!!
Entertainment will take the form of;
TARGET SHOPPERS – Noise rock trio from Stoke featuring Phil Todd (Ashtray Navigations / Inca Eyeball), Joincey (Stuckometer / Inca Eyeball / Coits / Wagstaff / Hock) and Marky Loo Loo. Active once more after a lengthy hiatus, many people will remember their last outing at The Rigger in 2001 in which they adopted provocatively homoerotic garb (aided as always by their ‘eye candy’ dancer – Prince Tunn), they rocked like bastards only to have the sound pulled and an early finish – hopefully they shall play for a little longer this time and give you as many of their ‘classics’ as possible “Dr of Insect Sex”, “Teleported Foot”, “Beef Tea”, “Easily Invented”, “Heat” the list goes on…
NEIL CAMPBELL – No introduction really needed. The undisputed grandaddy of underground noise/improv/drone/whatever who has been exploring these murky waters for close to 30 years. Very pleased, to say the least, that Mr Campbell has agreed to grace Stoke for the first time with his incredibly well respected presence. Expect white light, mind altering, cosmic music of the highest order.
MOTHERS OF THE THIRD REICH – Beyond excited to welcome this harsh noise duo from Eastbourne who plan to peel the skin from your face using the power of Saxophone and drums. A short tour around some of the North’s finer cities will take place around this date also.
THE SUBS – Pop songs to melt your hearts constructed on the Amiga 500 as imagined in the brain of Marky Loo Loo, who, along with messers Todd and Joinson, was an integral facilitator and force of nature for the original Stoke noise scene of the early 90s. The list of bands he graced during this period is innumerable (including Tea Culture, Dogliveroil, The Turps, Hock, Bouit Unique, Monica, Target Shoppers, Bog Bush, Big Horn and I’m Not Sitting Next To You He Who Farts Like Loud Water) but it is possibly The Subs which is closest to Mark’s blackened heart. First live appearance for many, many years, which promises a possibility of ‘guest’ vocalists. Yummy.
MIDWICH – Solo explorations by Mr Robert Hayler from Leeds. Rob was the head honcho of Fencing Flatworm Records many moons ago (releasing my first solo material in 2001) before succumbing to ill health. Then, out of the blue, a blog appeared http://radiofreemidwich.wordpress.com/, new Midwich material and only a few weeks ago, a live appearance (alongside Neil Campbell, Culver and The Piss Superstition). I’m incredibly pleased that Rob has agreed to come South and bless us all with his positive vibes and soothing, repetitive music. Hail to the Hayler!
*also expect films to bend the brain and melt the synapses.
